Early, Teen, & Adult Orthodontic Treatment
Early orthodontic treatment, also known as interceptive orthodontics, refers to the dental care given to children who still have a mix of primary and adult teeth. Early treatment is not required for everyone, but 1 in 3 children can benefit from this treatment when preparations for permanent teeth will help decrease the likelihood of oral surgery, extractions, and/or make teen comprehensive treatment easier for the patient.
Teen orthodontic treatment is a dental care process that is specially designed for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 who require dental correction. It is a crucial time for teens since most of their permanent teeth are in place, but the jaw is still growing, which makes it an ideal time for orthodontic treatment.
Adult orthodontic care is a dental treatment that is designed to correct issues with tooth alignment or bite in individuals over the age of 18. Although many people think that orthodontic treatment is only for children and teens, adult orthodontics have become increasingly popular in recent years due to advances in technology and more discreet options available.
Braces
Braces are a popular orthodontic treatment that can help straighten teeth and correct bite issues. They consist of metal brackets that are bonded to the teeth and connected by archwires. The wires are gradually tightened over time, applying gentle pressure to shift the teeth into the desired position. Braces can be customized with colored elastics for a fun and personalized look.
Clear Aligners
Aligners are a popular orthodontic treatment option for straightening teeth. They consist of clear plastic trays that are custom-made to fit snugly over the teeth. Each set of aligners is worn for a specific amount of time, typically one to two weeks, and gradually shifts the teeth into the desired position.
TMJ
Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) can cause discomfort and pain in the jaw joint and muscles that control jaw movement. At our practice, we offer a range of TMJ treatments to alleviate symptoms and improve function. There are several common treatments for TMJ that can help alleviate pain and prevent teeth grinding or clenching including BOTOX® and bite guards.
Emergencies
Orthodontic emergencies are often to unexpected problems or issues that arise during orthodontic treatment and require immediate attention from an orthodontist. This could include severe pain or discomfort in the mouth or teeth, broken braces or wires, or a loose appliance.
If you are experiencing a true orthodontic emergency, please contact us immediately.
